NOTICE: Rebate funding is based on a first come, first served basis. Please do not call the District office for funding availability. If no rebate funds are available when your application is received, the application will be held until more annual funding is made available or until one year has passed since the toilet or urinal was purchased and the rebate request has therefore become ineligible. All ineligible applications will be returned to the applicant with a notice of ineligibility.
The Marina Coast Water District (MCWD) provides a rebate, up to $125 and equal to the net purchase price of the toilet, when a customer purchases and installs a new HET (1.28 GPF) to replace an older ULFT (1.6 GPF) or really old toilets having a flush volume of 3.5 GPF or 5.0 GPF. No rebates are provided to customers that replace an existing HET (new homes built after 2006) with a new HET simply having different features. In California, it is now mandated by law that the only toilets sold are High-Efficiency Toilets (HET'S) 1.28 gpf. They have an average flush volume of 1.28 gallons per flush, or less. They can be dual-flush (having the option of two flush volumes of 1.6 GPF and 0.8 GPF) or single-flush (having one flush option of 1.28 GPF or less).
Converting from conventional urinals to water-free urinals also qualifies you for a rebate. The District will provide you a rebate equal to the purchase price of the water-free urinal, up to $125.
Any home or commercial property is required by law to be retrofitted to 1.6-gallon per flush or less, but can qualify if it is retrofitted with a high-efficiency toilet.
The increasing number of high-efficiency toilet models available provides choices. Current independent test data is now available for the consumer via the web. We recommend you review the ratings before you buy.
Don't pay more for a toilet that uses more water and doesn't empty the bowl. Current test data, see cuwcc.org/MaPTesting.aspx, allows the consumer to avoid the poor performers.
To receive a high-efficiency toilet rebate, save your original purchase receipt. Then pick up a rebate from our offices or download the form (see documents in right column). Fill out the form, attach the original receipt, and mail or bring the form and the original receipt to our main office, 11 Reservation Road. Visit the Contact Us page for driving directions.
The District will only accept receipts less than one year old. The rebate program is only for our customers.
