REINSTATEMENT OF DELINQUENT PENALTIES
Dear Customers:
During the transition to our new bill pay portal, we temporarily paused charging late fees. We are reinstating these penalties on December 26, 2024. From that day forward:
- Payments will be applied to the oldest balance.
- Amounts unpaid by the due date are considered past due.
- After 30 days, unpaid amounts become delinquent and will incur a 10% penalty.
- After 60 days of delinquency, the District may discontinue service until all charges are paid in full or payment arrangements have been made on the delinquent amount due.

What to Do If Your Bill Is Past Due
Payment plans are also available for customers who are having difficulty paying their bill. Please call (831) 384-6131, if you need to set up a payment plan or if you just need a couple of extra days to pay your bill.
The Water Shutoff Protection Act (California Senate Bill 998) requires agencies like MCWD to provide customers with a written collection policy on shutting off water service if bills are not paid after receiving a 48-hour door tag.
