Important Water System Improvement Project Underway
Some Traffic Delays on California Avenue & Imjin Parkway Expected
Marina Coast Water District (District) has been working hard on an important project to
improve your water system. Over the past few weeks, the District has been working on a
project to replace existing pipeline which should be completed this month. Although there
have been some nighttime traffic delays on California Avenue & Imjin Parkway, the District is
pleased to see these are minimal and not during daytime hours. Please see additional
information on the project's details, schedule, and costs below.
Project Completion Scheduled for End of August. Marina Coast Water District is replacing
1,675 feet of 24-inch-wide water pipeline along the northbound lane of California Avenue
from Marina Heights Drive crossing Imjin Parkway and turning east for 400 feet.
No Daytime Delays Expected. The night work portion, specifically for the Imjin Parkway
installation, takes place from 7 PM to 6 AM. This will impact traffic on Imjin Parkway during
these hours, with no daytime traffic disruptions expected.
Project Will Slow Traffic at Night but No Stoppages Expected. Traffic control measures,
approved by the City of Marina are in place to manage the flow of vehicles. While one lane
may be closed, the impact will be minimized, primarily resulting in slower traffic rather than
major stoppages.
More Project Details. The new pipeline is made of Ductile Iron, an extremely durable and
long-lasting material. This $1.79 million project is part of an extensive program of water and
sewer system upgrades, replacements, and renewals for the fiscal year.
